Fallen Patriot Commemoration
This U.S. Flag site and Flag Steward experience is dedicated to this inspirational Patriot:
U.S. Army Sergeant First Class
Daniel H. Petithory of Cheshire, MA
Served in Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF)
with 3rd Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group, from Fort Campbell, KY
Killed December 5, 2001, by friendly-fire bombing in Afghanistan
( MA's first combatant killed in GWOT - Global War on Terror; OEF/OIF )
One of his Special Forces teammates said this about Daniel:
“Dan was my junior commo guy when he came to ODA 572. Dan was a hell of a team guy, hilariously funny when doing his Dan Akaroyd (sp) or Chris Farley impersonations. Dan and i humped a ruck over many, many miles together, he always had something humorous to say when it really sucked. Dan could tell you "I love you man." and mean it. I keep many pictures of Dan and I deployed to "austere" locations so that i'll never forget our time together. I was crushed when he died and still have some trouble with that. Dan was a real silly * but man what a good friend. I miss him."
