2012 Benghazi Attack
The 2012 Benghazi Attack was a coordinated ambush of 2 US government facilities in Benghazi, Libya by Islamic terrorists of Ansar al-Sharia. On the evening of September 11th, Ansar al-Sharia militants attacked the US consulate (diplomatic compound) in Benghazi and killed the US Ambassador to Libya, J. Christopher Stevens, and US Foreign Service Officer, Sean Smith. Stevens was the 8th US Ambassador to be killed while in office and first since 1979. Then again, about one mile away, in the early morning hours of September 12th, the same Islamic terrorists attacked the CIA annex with mortar rounds that killed CIA Operatives Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty - both of whom were retired US Navy SEALs.
We honor and thank Stevens, Smith, Woods, and Doherty for serving Our Country and our citizens abroad.

Stevens, Smith, Woods, and Doherty - You taught an old Jarhead some new tricks. I did not know much about the US Foreign Service or the CIA and their diplomatic activities until building this tribute. I'm honored to have learned more about your inspirational lives and the paths you took to serve Our Country and protect our freedom. Thanks for being shining examples of American patriots that we can relay to student-citizens to motivate more of them to step-up, be more selfless, and serve Our Country proudly like you all did. - from Sean on 6/25/19 [ photo of Benghazi 4 iHonor American Flag ]
