Army Specialist (SPC) Gabriel Conde, age 22, served as part of Operation Freedom's Sentinel (OFS) with 3rd Battalion, 509th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division from Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska KIA (Killed In Action) April 30, 2018, by enemy small-arms fire in Tagab district of Kapisa province, Afghanistan

Gabriel "Gabe" Conde Born November 2, 1995 in Belton, MO Followed his "calling to be a warrior" -father, Bob Conde Moved from Missouri to Colorado as 8th grader - better fulfilling his trademark white hat with cowboy boots "Colorado look" Athletic, smart, poet, and outdoorsman (hiking, mountain biking, hunting & camping), who participated in band, and competed in wrestling, track, and cross-country for Berthoud HS 2014 Graduate of Berthoud High School Attended Colorado School of Mines for one year Enlisted in U.S. Army as Infantryman in 2015 Assigned to 3rd Battalion, 509th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division from Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska Deployed to Afghanistan, as part of Operation Freedom's Sentinel, in September 2017 Became passionate about unit's mission and planned to keep "defending the weak and vanquish evil” by helping rescue victims of human trafficking in Afghanistan - as a volunteer, outside of his regular military duties Killed in action, on April 30, 2018, by enemy small arms fire "At the time of the incident, Spc. Conde was serving as a security enabler assigned to a special operations unit that was conducting operations with Afghan security forces against a Taliban facilitation network in Tagab district, Kapisa province," Memorialized by Veterans of Foreign Wars naming VFW Post 12189 as the "Specialist Gabriel Conde Memorial VFW Post 12189" in Berthoud, CO Survived by his parents, Bob and Donna, and sisters, Olivia and Priscilla
