iHonor GWOT (Global War on Terror) Fallen: U.S. Army Sergeant First Class Mihail Golin of Fort Lee, New Jersey
Sergeant First Class Mihail Golin, age 34, served in Operation Freedom's Sentinel Assigned to 2nd Battalion, 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne) based out of Fort Carson, Colorado Killed in action (KIA) January 1st of 2018, by enemy small arms fire while on dismounted patrol, in Nangarhar Province, Afghanistan
We honor and thank U.S. Army Sergeant First Class Mihail Golin for defending our freedoms and fighting to liberate the lives of others.
[ Golin in Iraq during 2006-07 deployment ] Mihail Golin Born on August 20, 1983 in Riga, Latvia Emigrated to the United States in 2004 Enlisted in the U.S. Army, from Fort Lee, New Jersey, on January 5, 2005 Completed Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training in 2005 Served as an infantryman with the 25th Infantry Division in Alaska from 2005 - 2013 Deployments while with the 25th Infantry Division included: Operation Iraqi Freedom (Sep. 2006 - Nov. 2007) Operation Enduring Freedom (2x to Afghanistan = Feb. 2009 - Feb. 2010 and Dec. 2011 - Oct. 2012) Volunteered for Special Forces training and graduated from the Special Forces Qualification Course in Nov. 2014 Assigned as weapons sergeant with the 10th SFG (A) - Special Forces Group (Airborne) Deployed with 10th SFG (A) to Afghanistan in Sep. 2017

His awards include the: Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart Medal (2 OLC), Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (2 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (2 OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal (3), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (3), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO Medal, Special Forces Tab, Ranger Tab, Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, and Parachutist Badge.
