Specialist Kedith Jacobs, age 21, served in Operation Enduring Freedom Assigned to Headquarters & Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division based out of Fort Bliss, Texas Killed in action (KIA) May 27 of 2012, by enemy fire, in Chaki District of the Wardak Province, Afghanistan We honor and thank U.S. Army Specialist Jacobs for defending our freedoms and fighting to liberate the lives of others.
Kedith L. Jacobs Jr. Born on June 6, 1990 in Atlanta, Georgia Attended Carver High School in Houston, Texas Graduated from Richfield High School in Richfield, Minnesota in 2008 Interested in electronics, he enjoyed taking apart and reassembling computers Attended Texas Southern University where he met his future wife Phyllis McFarland Phyllis and Kedith were married on May 5, 2010 in Colorado and had a beautiful daughter Alora Kedith enlisted in the U.S. Army on June 5, 2010 Assigned to Battalion Communications Section of Headquarters and Headquarters Company as a Multichannel Transmission System Operator - Maintainer within the 2nd Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division based out of Fort Bliss, Texas Deployed in September of 2011 to Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom Killed in Action when his unit was attacked by enemy fire on May 27, 2012 - a somber Memorial Day weekend for his unit

Survived by his wife, Phyllis, daughter Alora, mother, father, and two younger brothers

His awards include the: Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (2 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (2 OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal (3), National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Bronze Service Star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO Medal, and Combat Action Badge.

At his unit's memorial service for Jacobs and 2 others killed in action, one of Kedith's teammates stated “He was always playing video games and would show me how old I really am, You always knew when he was around; if you didn’t, he was probably sleeping.”
